The generic name of this medication is ATROPINE AUTO - INJECTOR and Brand Name is Atropen.

The active ingredients of this medication is tropane alkaloid.

This medication is used to treat nerve agent poisoning by certain chemicals known as anticholinesterase agents (e.g., carbamate/organophosphate insecticides such as parathion, "nerve gas" such as sarin, other nerve agents such as VX).

Common Uses:

This medication is used to treat nerve agent poisoning by certain chemicals known as anticholinesterase agents (e.g., carbamate/organophosphate insecticides such as parathion, "nerve gas" such as sarin, other nerve agents such as VX).

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Dizziness;
Drowsiness or pain at the injection site;
Normal effects from atropine include:
Fever;
Flushing;
Large pupils;
Tachycardia and dryness of the mouth and nose.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended for following conditions:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Who have a certain eye condition (narrow-angle glaucoma), blockage in the abdomen/intestines (pyloric stenosis);
Who suffer from cardiovascular conditions (e.g., recent heart attack, irregular heartbeat), renal disorders, prostate problems (prostatic hypertrophy);
It is also not recommended in pregnant women; women planning on becoming pregnant; and nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
Morphine;
Aminophylline/theophylline;
Succinylcholine;
Reserpine;
Phenothiazines (e.g., chlorpromazine, prochlorperazine).
