Warnings
The generic name of this medication is nortriptyline and Brand Names are Pamelor, Aventyl HCl.
The active ingredients of this medication is nortriptyline Hydrochloride.
Nortriptyline is used to treat symptoms of depression.
Common Uses:
This medication is used to treat symptoms of depression.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the upper extemities or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling;
Confusion, hallucinations, or seizure (convulsions);
Easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness;
Restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck;
Sudden headache, confusion, problems with vision, speech, or balance;
Sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body;
Tachycardia, pounding, or uneven heart rate;
Tremors.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended for following conditions:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Had a heart attack;
Allergic to nortriptyline;
Cardiovascular conditions, hyperthyroidism and glaucoma;
Schizophrenia or other mental illness;
It is also not recommended in pregnant women; women planning on becoming pregnant; and nursing mothers.
Drug Interactions:
Cimetidine (Tagamet);
Guanethidine (Ismelin);
Reserpine; or
Heart rhythm medications such as flecainide (Tambocor), propafenone (Rhythmol), or quinidine (Cardioquin, Quinidex, Quinaglute).
