Warnings
The generic name of this medication is tretinoin topical and brand names are Altinac, Atralin, Avita, Renova, Retin A Micro Gel, Retin-A, Tretin-X.
The active ingredient of this medication is tretinoin.
It is primarily used in the treatment of acne.
Common Uses:
It is primarily used in the treatment of acne.
Off Label Uses:
None noted thus far.
Side Effects:
Difficulty breathing;
Dryness;
Hives;
Itching;
Less serious side effects may include burning;
Peeling;
Redness;
Stinging;
Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat;
Swelling;
Tingling;
Warmth.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Eczema.
It is also not recommended in pregnant women; women planning on becoming pregnant; and nursing mothers.
Drug Interactions:
Diuretic or water pill;
Tetracyclines (Sumycin, Panmycin, Robitet), minocycline (Minocin), doxycycline (Doryx, Vibramycin), demeclocycline (Declomycin), and others;
Antibiotics like ciprofloxacin (Cipro), ofloxacin (Floxin), and others;
Sulfa medications like Bactrim, Septra, Cotrim, and others; or
Chlorpromazine (Thorazine), prochlorperazine (Compazine), fluphenazine (Permitil, Prolixin), promethazine (Phenergan, Promethegan), perphenazine (Trilafon), and others.

About Tretinoin
Tretinoin is the acid form of vitamin A and so also known as all-trans retinoic acid or ATRA. It is a drug commonly used to treat acne vulgaris and keratosis pilaris. It is available as a cream or gel (brand name Retin-A). It is also used to treat acute promyelocytic leukemia (APML).
