The generic name of this medication is nizatidine and brand names are Axid AR, Axid Pulvules.

The active ingredient of this medication is nizatidine. Each pulvule contains for oral administration gelatin; pregelatinized starch; dimethicone; starch; titanium dioxide; yellow iron oxide; and other inactive ingredients. The 150 mg pulvule contains magnesium stearate, and the 300 mg pulvule contains croscarmellose sodium, povidone, red iron oxide, and talc.

It is manufactured by Eli Lilly.

Used in the treatment and prevention of ulcers in the stomach and intestines.

Common Uses:

Used in the treatment and prevention of ulcers in the stomach and intestines.

Off Label Uses:

Used in the treatment of conditions where the stomach generates too much acid and conditions like heartburn or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Side Effects:
Allergic reactions (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
Bleeding gums;
Easy or unusual bruising or bleeding;
Fever and sore throat; or
Irregular heartbeat;
Yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Renal disorders;
Liver disorders;
A history of vomiting blood;
Blood in stool or black stools.

It is also not recommended in pregnant women; women that are planning on becoming pregnant and nursing mothers.
