Warnings
The generic name of this medication is nizatidine oral solution and brand name is Axid.
The active ingredient of this medication is nizatidine. Inactive ingredients of Axid capsules include gelatin; pregelatinized starch; dimethicone; starch; titanium dioxide; and yellow iron oxide.
Axid Oral Solution is manufactured by Braintree Labs and Axid capsules are manufactured by Reliant Pharmaceuticals.
It is primarily used in the treatment and prevention of ulcers.
Common Uses:
Used in the treatment and prevention of ulcers.
Off Label Uses:
Used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and in the treatment and prevention of erosive esophagitis.
Side Effects:
Abdominal discomfort;
Dizziness;
Headache.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients; or other H2 antagonists like famotidine;
Renal disorders;
Liver disorders;
A history of the blood disease or porphyria.
It is also not recommended in pregnant women; women that are planning on becoming pregnant and nursing mothers.
Drug Interactions:
Ketoconazole.
