Warnings
The generic name of this medication is aztreonam and the brand name is Azactam.
The active ingredient of this medication is aztreonam and the inactive ingredient is arginine.
It is manufactured by Bristol-Myers Squibb, S.r.l. Anagni and Archimica.
Used in the treatment of severe infections of the urinary tract; lower respiratory tract; skin; stomach; female reproductive organs; and other body systems.
Common Uses:
Used in the treatment of severe infections of the urinary tract; lower respiratory tract; skin; stomach; female reproductive organs; and other body systems.
Off Label Uses:
None noted thus far.
Side Effects:
Confusion, seizure (convulsions);
Diarrhea that is watery or bloody;
Feeling light-headed, fainting;
Fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms.
Fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash;
Pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients; or to penicillin antibiotics;
Renal disorders;
Liver disorders;
A history of any other form of allergic reaction.
It is also not recommended in pregnant women; women that are planning on becoming pregnant and nursing mothers.
Drug Interactions:
Amikacin (Amikin);
Gentamicin (Garamycin);
Kanamycin (Kantrex);
Neomycin (Mycifradin, Neo-Fradin, Neo-Tab);
Netilmicin (Netromycin);
Streptomycin; or
Tobramycin (Nebcin, Tobi).

About Aztreonam
Aztreonam (Azactam) is a synthetic monocyclic beta-lactam antibiotic (a monobactam) originally isolated from Chromobacterium violaceum. It was approved by the FDA in 1986. It is resistant to some beta-lactamases, but is inactivated by extended-spectrum beta-lactamases.
