The generic name of this medication is brinzolamide ophthalmic and brand name is Azopt.

The active ingredient of this medication is brinzolamide ophthalmic. Inactive ingredients include mannitol, carbomer 974P, tyloxapol, edetate disodium, sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide to balance pH, and purified water. Benzalkonium chloride is added as a preservative.

It is manufactured by Alcon Laboratories Inc.,

Used in the treatment of certain types of glaucoma and other causes of high pressure in the eye.

Common Uses:

Used in the treatment of certain types of glaucoma and other causes of high pressure in the eye.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Swelling or redness of your eyelids;
Eye redness, discomfort, or sensitivity to light;
Drainage, crusting, or oozing of your eyes or eyelids;
Fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash;
Pain in your upper stomach, jaundice (yellowing of your skin or eyes);
Pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding; or
Chest pain.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients; and/or to brinzolamide;
Narrow-angle glaucoma;

It is also not recommended in pregnant women; women who are planning on becoming pregnant; and nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
Salicylates such as aspirin, Novasal, Doan's Extra Strength, Salflex, Tricosal, and others;
