The generic name of this medication is trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and brand name is Bactrim.

The active ingredient of this medication is trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. Inactive ingredients include Docusate sodium 85%, sodium benzoate 15%, sodium starch glycolate, magnesium stearate and pregelatinized starch.

It is manufactured by AR Scientific, Inc.

This medication is used to treat ear infections, urinary tract infections, bronchitis, traveler's diarrhea, and pneumocystis carinii pneumonia.

15 May 2011 Took this for UTI. 2 hours after first dose I was vomiting and extremely dizzy and lightheaded. Could not work for three days. Called Dr after day three of taking this drug, still had UTI, along with skin rash on chest and legs. My eyes were bloodshot and I had severe joint pain in my hands and feet. Also pins and needle feelings in my calves alot. I had a severe allergic reaction to this drug. Went on Cipro instead, thank god.

31 Mar 2011 Bactrim started to clear my acne up right away! I have very few breakout now. I still have redness on my face from scarring tho. I wish it could clear that up too! Overall I would reccomend bactrim!

23 Feb 2011 One sided debilitating symptoms (out of work for a week in a half) pain, burning, itching, tearing, horrible aches and pain, pins and needles, dizziness, horrible vision problems (spots and flashing lights, pain) great fatigue, anxiety, emotional, hot, weakness, numbness causing me to walk with a limb for over a week and still not normal, insomnia, feeling of pressure, sharp pains in my head, eye socket pain, tightness and stiffness all over but all of the symptoms above were all one sided except for vision issues. It has affected both eyes. I have been to the ER 2x, 3 MRI's, numerous blood test and spinal tap because symptoms were so SEVERE. I will never take this medication again.
