The generic name of this medication is diphenhydramine and brand names are Aler-Tab, Allergy, Allermax, Altaryl, Benadryl Allergy, Benadryl DF, Benadryl Dye Free Allergy, Benadryl Ultratab, Children's Allergy, Diphen Cough, Diphenhist, Dytuss, PediaCare Children's Allergy, Q-Dryl, Q-Dryl A/F, Siladryl and Siladryl Allergy.

The active ingredient of this medication is bambuterol.

This medication is used to treat sneezing, runny nose, itching, watery eyes, hives, rashes, itching and other symptoms of allergies including the common cold.

Common Uses:

This medication is used to treat sneezing, runny nose, itching, watery eyes, hives, rashes, itching and other symptoms of allergies including the common cold.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Sleepiness, fatigue or dizziness.
Headache.
Dry mouth.
Difficulty urinating or an enlarged prostate.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in patients with the following conditions:
If patient is on a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) in the last 14 days.
If there is glaucoma or increased pressure in the eye.
If there is a stomach ulcer.
If there is an enlarged prostate, bladder problems or difficulty urinating.
If there is asthma.

Drug Interactions:
Anxiety or sleep medicines such as alprazolam (Xanax), diazepam (Valium), chlordiazepoxide (Librium), temazepam (Restoril), or triazolam (Halcion).
Medications for depression such as amitriptyline (Elavil), doxepin (Sinequan), nortriptyline (Pamelor), fluoxetine (Prozac), sertraline (Zoloft), or paroxetine (Paxil).
Any other medications that induce drowsiness, sleepiness or relaxation.
