The generic name of this medication is dextromethorphan and brand names are Babee Cof, Benylin DM Pediatric, Buckley's Mixture Cough Suppressant, Buckleys Mixture, Creo-Terpin, Creomulsion, Delsym, Delsym 12 Hour Cough Relief, Delsym 12 Hour Cough Relief for Children & Adults, DexAlone, Elixsure Cough, Hold DM, Pediacare, Robitussin CoughGels and Robitussin Honey Cough.
The active ingredient of this medication is dextromethorphan.
This medication is used to treat a cough.
Common Uses:
This medication is used to treat a cough.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Severe dizziness, anxiety, restless feeling or nervousness.
Confusion, hallucinations.
Slow, shallow breathing.
Cautions / Warnings:
This medication is not recommended for children below 4 years.
Not recommended in patients that have used an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) within the past 14 days.
Not recommended if patient is using any other over-the-counter cough, cold or allergy medication.
