About Black Salt
In Ayurvedic medicine Black salt is prepared by boiling Harad seeds in brine, and then allowing the rest of the water to evaporate. What is left is crystalline salt --which is blac-- hence the name. When ground into a powder, it becomes pink. Chemically, black salt is sodium sulfide, with trace minerals. Black salt is used as a laxative and digestive aid. It can also be used to relieve intestinal gas and heartburn. Harad seeds are considered aphrodisiac in ayurvedic medicine and helps lowering blood pressure and is an anti-inflammatory.
