In Traditional Chinese Medicine the hyacinth orchid has been used medicinally for over 1500 years as an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiphlogistic, demulcent, pectoral, skin styptic and vulnerary. The root of the hyacinth orchid is used in Chinese Medicine to stop internal or external bleeding, alleviates swelling and has regenerative properties in the treatment of wounds. When taken internally, it stems internal haemorrhages in the stomach and lungs, nose bleeds and uterine bleeding.

Common Uses:

Used in the treatment of:
Bleeding from lungs;
Bleeding from the stomach;
Chapped and cracked skin, especially hands;
Non-healing ulcers;
Nosebleed;
Open sores;
Uterine bleeding;
Wounds caused by external injuries.

Off Label Uses:

None noted thus far.

Side Effects:
None noted thus far.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in the nascent statge of sores and abscesses, since healing process will commence early prior to expelling accumulated pus;
Not recommended in people coughing blood caused by externally-contracted conditions;
Not recommended in people with early-stage lung abscess;
Not recommended in pregnant women and nursing mothers.
