Common Uses:

This medication is used to treat many kinds of bacterial infections, including severe or life-threatening forms.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Diarrhea that is watery or bloody;
Fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms;
Chest pain, fast or pounding heartbeats;
Unusual bleeding;
Blood in your urine.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended for following conditions:
Who are allergic to cefuroxime;cefaclor (Raniclor);cefadroxil (Duricef);
cefazolin (Ancef);
Who have kidney disease;
Who have liver disease;
Who have a history of intestinal problems, such as colitis.

Drug Interactions:
Probenecid (Benemid);
A blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin);
A medication that reduces stomach acid, such as an antacid, or cimetidine (Tagamet), famotidine (Pepcid), omeprazole (Prilosec), ranitidine (Zantac), and others.

I was given Ceftin to treat a possible sinus/ear infection. I developed antibiotic-associated colitis after taking it. While I took the Ceftin, however, there were no side effects to speak of.
