Common Uses:

This medication is also used to treat itching and swelling caused by hives.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat;
Weakness, tremors (uncontrolled shaking), or sleep problems (insomnia);
Severe restless feeling, hyperactivity;
Confusion;
Problems with vision.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended for following conditions:
Who are allergic to cetirizine;
Who have kidney disease, liver disease;
Who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant.

Drug Interactions:
Certain antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine);
Anti-seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine);
Medicine for sleep or anxiety (e.g., alprazolam, diazepam, zolpidem);
Muscle relaxants, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine);
Psychiatric medicines (e.g., chlorpromazine, risperidone, amitriptyline, trazodone).

04 Feb 2014	Cetirizine Hydrochloride has caused a Phototoxic reaction, resembling severe sunburn on neck and chest. 10 Apr 2011	For me this drug was great for the rhinitis part - almost totally stopping the sneezing, coughing, watery eyes etc. However I found it made me extremely tired. I started taking the pill at night and found that worked better for me but I was still having sleepless nights and getting fatigued beyond anything I have previously know. After a few days of feeling exhausted all the time, of being a little disorientated and getting irritable I stopped taking them. 04 Nov 2010	I have very bad hayfever, continuous sneezing, itchy watery red eyes, its really iritating and feels absolutely awful, i can't go near plants. 14 May 2009	I was diagnosed with asthma when I was 9 years old. The asthma would come when I excercised and when I was around things that gave me allergies such as cats and pollen. I had a lot of expensive allergy tests done and was given an inhaler which would help in the moment when I couldn't breathe as well as some medicines but nothing seemed to really help overall. Two years later I moved to Chile with my family. There I went to a doctor who told me to take this medicine once a day every day. I did this and my allergies and asthma went away after several months. Now 15 years later I take this medicine only when I know I will be around cats and other things that give me allergies, but I rarely ever use an inhaler and it is almost as if this medicine cured me.
