The generic name of this medication is colistin sulfate, neomycin sulfate, thonzonium bromide and hydrocortisone acetate.

It is available in the form of ear drops or otic suspension.

The active ingredients of Coly-Micin S are colistin sulfate, neomycin sulfate, and
thonzonium bromide and hydrocortisone acetate. There are no inactive ingredients in these ear drops.

Common Uses:

Used in the treatment of bacterial infections of the external ear, caused due to micro-organisms auditory canal, caused by organisms vulnerable to antibiotics.
Treatment of infections of mastoidectomy and fenestration cavities, also caused by micro-organisms predisposed to various antibiotics.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Acneiform eruptions.
Burning.
Dermatitis (perioral in nature).
Dryness.
Folliculitis.
Hypopigmentation.
Hypertrichosis.
Irritation.
Itching.
Redness.
Skin atrophy.
Skin maceration.
Skin rashes.
Striae.
Swelling.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people that are allergic to this medication or its constituents or any other antibiotics.
Neomycin one of the ingredients of this medication can cause permanent hearing impairment. Risk increases with continued or prolonged usage of drops.
Usage should be limited to ten consecutive days.
Not recommended in people with punctured ear drum since the condition could get worse.
Not recommended in people suffering from herpes simplex as the condition could get worse.
Not recommended in pregnant women and nursing mothers and seeking medical consult prior to usage is recommended.
