Around the time I started taking Daytrana, I noticed that I was sweating more often. I took Daytrana for about 2 years. I went to my doctors and none of them could figure out why I was all of a sudden sweating so much. When my psychiatrist decided to take me off of the Daytrana, I stopped sweating. We soon realized that the Daytrana is what was making me sweat uncontrollably. Another problem I had with Daytrana was that I must have been allergic to the patch. Once I stopped applying Daytrana, I noticed that I had really dark patches where the Daytrana used to be placed. The dark patches also had dark red rings around them. When I was still on the Daytrana, and I took off the patch, my skin was always bright pink and my skin burned a lot. If it wasn’t for the side effects, I would have continued taking Daytrana. It has been by far the best ADHD medication I have ever had. It gave me the best concentration and it would last all day.

About Methylphenidate
Methylphenidate (MPH) is a prescription stimulant commonly used to treat Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD. It is also one of the primary drugs used to treat the daytime drowsiness symptoms of narcolepsy and chronic fatigue syndrome. The drug is seeing early use to treat cancer-related fatigue. Brand names of drugs that contain methylphenidate include Ritalin (Ritalina, Rilatine, Attenta, Methylin, Penid, Rubifen); and the sustained release tablets Concerta, Metadate CD, Ritalin LA, and Ritalin-SR. Focalin is a preparation containing only dextro-methylphenidate, rather than the usual racemic dextro- and levo-methylphenidate mixture of other formulations. A newer way of taking methylphenidate is by using a transdermal patch (under the brand name Daytrana), similar to those used for hormone replacement therapy, nicotine release and pain relief (fentanyl).
