Lachesis is primarily used in the treatment of engorged, throbbing veins, like varicose veins. It is also used in the treatment of bluish discoloration of the face, ears, fingers, and toes caused due to circulatory problems. In addition to the above it is used to treat cardiovascular conditions like a weak heart; a rapid, weak, irregular pulse; palpitations; angina; and difficulty breathing. Women going through various problems associated with menopause also find this medication extremely helpful in providing relief from problems like hot flashes etc. Besides this, symptoms associated with premenstrual syndrome and spasmodic, congestive menstrual pain can also be treated using this medication. To prepare the homeopathic remedy, venom is extracted from the South American bushmaster snake and diluted in large quantities of lactose (milk sugar).
