Warnings
The generic name of this medication is Levothyroxine and common brand names are Levothroid; Levoxyl; Synthroid; and Unithroid.
The active ingredients of this medication are levothyroxine sodium and anhydrous 50ug.
Levothyroxine sodium is manufactured by Jerome Stevens Pharmaceuticals.
It is primarily used in the treatment of hypothyroidism.
Common Uses:
Levothyroxine is used to treat hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone.
Off Label Uses:
Used to help reduce the size of enlarged thyroid glands (goiter) and in the treatment of thyroid cancer.
Side Effects:
Blurred or double vision;
Change in appetite;
Chest pain or discomfort;
Decreased bone mineral;
Density decreased urine output;
Diarrhea;
Difficult or labored breathing ;
Dizziness.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended in people that have had:
Any unusual or allergic reactions to levothyroxine;
Adrenal insufficiency;
Anemia;
Clotting disorders;
Diabetes mellitus;
Heart attack.
Drug Interactions:
Antacids or gas-relieving medications;
Antidepressants;
Calcium;
Certain seizure medications, such as:
Carbamazepine;
Phenobarbital;
Phenytoin;
Cholestyramine;
Colestipol;
Diabetes medications.
Digoxin;
Iron;
Orlistat;
Raloxifene;
Rifampin;
Sucralfate.

SO FAR SO GOOD. THE ONLY SIDE EFFECT I HAVE HAD IS WHEN I FIRST STARTED TAKING THIS LEVOTHYROXINE WAS HOT SWEATS AND THAT WAS BECAUSE MY SYSTEM WAS GETTING USE TO THIS. OTHERWISE I FEEL GREAT. BEFORE I STARTED TAKING IT I WAS KINDA SLUGISH SO FAR ITS BETTER NOW. AND I TAKE MY DAILY MULTIVITAMIN 4 HOURS AFTER I TAKE MY PILL IN THE MORNING AT 7AM I SEPARATE THE TIME SO I CAN GET GET ABSORBTION OF THE PILL. AFTER TAKING IT I WAIT 30 MIN TO 1 HOUR B4 I EAT BREAFAST THEN I START MY DAY OFF AND I FEEL GREAT. NO BIG SIDE EFFECT AT ALL ...JUST GET YOUR EXECISE IN. EAT HEALTHY , WATCH WHAT YOU PUT ON YOUR SKIN AND HAIR, I USE NATURAL SHAMPOOS AND NATURAL BODY WASHES AND IM FINE. SO FAR IM PLEASE WITH IT. I WILL SEE HOW I FEEL IN SIX MONTHS. have developed ecxema after taking levothyroxine after eleven years. It is not as itchy if I lower the dose for a day or two from 150 to 100.

at first i didnt want to take them, i was angry that i had to take a medication once a day. ive never had to take medicaton before.. but i have friends who are on the same medicine and they explained it to me and i felt at ease and i went on and started taking it. my physician explain what it does and how it work and so far as i said it work great with me

I have been taken this pill for only 12 days, but my symptoms have increased. I fell much worse. I have muscle pain in lower legs. I can't stand for long I feel like all the water or ...what in only on my legs, feels heavy although they don't look swollen...I'm not sure thou. And my appetite have increased enormously especially at night. I don't go to the toilet even if I drink lots of water, etc.

I would love if there was a treatment regimen for this condition that did not require daily dosage. No two days in my life are the same and I sometimes have trouble remembering to take it on time.
