17 Jan 2013 After using hctz for a year and it not lowering my bp but only increasing urination my doctor switched me to Lisinopril. I was in an emotional state and quit most of my meds. When I quit my 800mg motrin (nsaid I've been taking for over 6 years 3 x daily) my body deflated, I felt like a new woman. However at my checkups my bp was still running very high for my height, weight, etc.. was about 169/105. They told me if I didn't start the drug I was looking at an enlarged heart and more medical problems in the future. All my recent labs that were done about a mont ago came back fine except for my sodium, its low. So I feel like Lisinopril yes in fact does bring my bp down but I have all these other side effects that make me feel like I'm not sure its worth it. The doctor prescribed 20 mg to start and I started wtih half a tablet 10mg and after a couple weeks find that it's still too strong. So I went down to 5mg and I think I'm doing okay but have been taking decongestants for a sinus problem that I've had for over 4 monts. Those guys just increased my zyrtek from 5mg to 10mg daily. It helps but makes me sleepy too. I guess I should get a second or even a third opinion on all this. I'm just getting sick of taking medicine for ailments that seem to casue more problems with the body and then the doctors just want to add something else for me to take. (exhale) Basically I feel this is what I would consider a trash drug for my body. It makes me feel worse (too many side effects). / :
