The generic name of this medication is pyridostigmine and is available in tablet form. The brand name of this medication is Mestinon. It functions as an active cholinesterase inhibitor, and is used in the treatment of myasthenia gravis.

The active ingredient of this medication is Pyridostigmine and inactive Ingredient is tribasic calcium phosphate. It is manufactured by Vagal Mestinon.

Common Uses:

Used in the treatment of myasthenia gravis.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Severe allergic reactions that include rashes; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue;
Diarrhea;
Fainting;
Increased production of saliva;
Increased sweating;
Muscle weakness;
Nausea;
Small pupils;
Stomach cramps;
Trouble breathing;
Vision changes;
Vomiting;
Weakness.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not advisable in people with:
Allergies to Mestinon or any of its ingredients;
Cardiovascular problems;
Stomach; intestinal; or urinary blockage.

Drug Interactions:
Quinine;
Quinidine;
Succinylcholine.
