27 Jun 2010 Metronidazole Topical (i.e MetroCream®, MetroGel®, MetroGel®-Vaginal, MetroLotion®, Noritate®) is commonly used to treat rosacea, and in some instances vaginal infection. It is important to note that topical application of the medicine on affected parts only reduces and/or minimizes inflammation, redness, and/or sores, but does not cure the problem. Following gentle cleansing, a thin layer of this medication is applied on affected parts (usually twice a day or as recommended by physician). Symptoms of flare ups generally subside within 3 weeks of application. Side effects are generally mild and may include increased skin redness, dryness, burning, irritation, and/or stinging.
