Minocycline Hydrochloride is the generic name of the drug and the trade name is Minocin.
It is available in the form of capsules.
Minocycline hydrochloride is a tetracycline-class antibiotic medicine. Minocycline hydrochloride is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria.
The inactive ingredients of Minocycline Hydrochloride are corn starch, magnesium stearate, Titanium Dioxide Sodium, Lauryl Sulfate Propylene, Glycol Strong Ammonia Solution.
Minocycline Hydrochloride is used to reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and should be used only to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria.
Minocycline Hydrochloride is contraindicated in people who are hypersensitive to any of the tetracyclines or to any of the components of the product formulation.
Common Uses:
Used in the treatment of:
Acne.
Amebic dysentery.
Anthrax.
Cholera.
Gonorrhea (when penicillin cannot be administered).
Microbial infections of the cervix.
Plague.
Rectal infections.
Respiratory infections.
Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
Syphilis (when penicillin cannot be administered).
Urinary tract infections.
Off Label Uses:
Used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
Side Effects:
Allergic reactions.
Bloody stools.
Blurred vision.
Darkening of skin, eye, or nail pigment.
Dysphagia or difficulty swallowing.
Fatigue and weakness.
Fever.
Joint pain.
Severe abdominal cramps.
Severe throat pain.
Swelling of the mouth or throat.
Unusual headaches.
Watery stools.
Wheezing.
Cautions / Warnings:
Blurred vision.
Dizziness.
Headaches.
Nausea.
Not recommended in children of 8 years of age or below.
Not recommended for use in pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Photosensitivity or sensitivity to sunlight.
Skin reactions.
Vomiting.
Drug Interactions:
Antacids consisting of aluminum, calcium, or magnesium.
Birth control pills or oral contraceptive pills.
Blood thinners.
Iron-containing preparations such as ferrous sulfate.
Isotretinoin.
Penicillin.

Minocycline Hydrochloride Comments

Personally I have been using Minocycline Hydrochloride as prescribed by my dermatologist and have seen an enormous reduction in acne. Coupled with periodic liquid nitrogen treatments, Minocycline Hydrochloride has significantly reduced scarring while halting acne.

It worked well but not as well as I was hoping. If I'm taking an oral medication for acne then I would like to see extremely good results, which I didn't.
