The generic name of Opcon-A is naphazoline hydrochloride and pheniramine maleate. It is also available under the brand name Naphcon-A.

Used in the treatment of itchy, red eyes caused due to pollen, dander, ragweed, and/or animal hair.

The active ingredients of Opcon-A are naphazoline HCI which relieves redness and pheniramine maleate which functions as an antihistamine.

The inactive ingredients of Opcon-A are benzalkonium chloride, boric acid, edetate disodium, hypromellose, purified water, sodium borate, and sodium chloride.

Product of Bausch & Lomb.

Common Uses:

Treatment of sore eyes, itchiness, and red eyes caused due to pollen, pet hair, ragweed etc.
Functions as an antihistamine and decongestant.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Other than enlarged pupils, no side effects have been noted thus far. Overdosage can result in red eyes.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not to be used if there is change in color and consistency of the drops.
Alters vision when used, hence caution needs to be exercised while driving and using hazardous equipment post usage.
Not recommended in people with glaucoma.
Extreme care to be taken while administering these eye drops to minimize risk of hurting the eye.
Not recommended for people that are allergic to it or any of its constituents.
Not recommended for people with cardiovascular disease conditions, hypertension, or urinary problems caused to enlarged prostate gland.
