The natural bark of the Ubos tree is used extensively as a contraceptive and for the treatment of ovarian and uterine cancer. It has analgesic properties and is also used as an antispasmodic for joint diseases such as arthritis, rheumatism, muscle injuries and inflammation. The astringent tannins present in the bark of the Ubos tree is used in the form of decoction for the treatment of diarrhea, dysentery, blenorrhagia, hemorrhoids, and internally as well as externally on wounds to stop bleeding. In cases of inflammation, the bark of the Ubos tree is used to treat tonsilitis, laryngitis, malaria, fever, erysipelas, bladder and kidney stones, snakebite, and intestinal ulcers.

The versatile bark of the Ubos tree is also used as a topical emollient and antiseptic for skin rashes, psoriasis, wounds, dermatitis, leishmaniasis, leprosy, etc.
