The generic name of this medication is lisdexamfetamine and brand name is Vyvanse.
The active ingredient of this medication is lisdexamfetamine dimesylate amd inactive ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose and croscarmellose sodium.
Vyvanse is manufactured by Shire Pharmaceuticals.
Mainly used in treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in certain patients.

Common Uses:

This medication is used in treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in certain patients. It is used as a part of a total treatment program that may include psychological, educational and social therapy.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Constipation
Decreased appetite
Diarrhea
Dizziness
Dry mouth
Headache
Increased sweating
Mild irritability, nervousness or restlessness, nausea and trouble falling asleep.
Unpleasant taste
Upper stomach pain
Vomiting
Weight loss

Cautions / Warnings:

Not advisable in patients allergic to any ingredient in Vyvanse or to similar medicines.
Not advisable in patients with an unusual reaction in the past to a sympathomimetic medicine (eg methylphenidate, pseudoephedrine).
Not advisable in patients with certain blood vessel problems (eg hardening of the arteries) and heart problems.
Not advisable in patients that suffer from agitation, anxiety or tension.
Not advisable during pregnancy and pre-pregnancy.

How has Vyvanse affected me? I'll tell you. My son developed myasthenia gravis within three months of taking this medication. It is poison in my mind and should be taken off the market and doctors should only prescribe ADHD medications in severe cases of ADHD. I'm sick with guilt for filling the prescription and giving it to my son. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Myasthenia Gravis is an autoimmune disease that isn't caused by any pathogens that we know of. Amphetamines are a pathogen that we know of. There is a slight genetic predisposition for it, but mostly it's a byproduct of dysfunction of the thymus, which can happen for a number of reasons (none of which are taking ADHD meds). There is plenty wrong with the pharmaceuticals industry and the products they peddle. There is no sense in making demons out of shadows when there are real dangers to contend with. Your son is just unlucky, and while that makes it temporarily more difficult -- as you have no one and nothing to blame for his condition -- it will allow you to spend more energy loving and caring for your son instead of investing that energy in hating a scapegoat.

Edit: I used the term "pathogen" incorrectly above. Pathogens are biological causes of disease. The point still stands. There is no known association between amphetamines and Myesthenia Gravis. There is a known association between autoimmune diseases and Myesthenia Gravis.

My son was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis 3 months after starting Vyvanse. I believe it triggered the myasthenia gravis and would not recommend anybody taking this "medication."

I was prescribed Vyvanse when I was a sophomore in high school and am currently still taking it 4 years later as a sophomore in college. As I increased my dosage, I got more productive, but the side effects increased. I got more irritable, and had absolutely no appetite. Nothing sounded good to eat and I would get annoyed easier than usually. the only thing I found to easy these symptoms was smoking marijuana. It would calm me down and relax me when I had the feeling that I needed to do something, even if there was nothing to do. One other thing I noticed is that I seem to have immunity to drugs like cocaine and mollie. I've tried both of these drugs at least 8 times each, but only feel like I took a vyvanse when I was "on" them. In short, the drugs didn't affect me and it's because of my tolerance to stimulant drugs, due to vyvanse.
