Common Uses:

This medication is used in treating advanced kidney cancer in certain patients.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Cough;
Diarrhea;
Dry skin, pain, swelling, or soreness of the mouth or tongue;
Fingernail or toenail changes;
Headache;
Itching;
Loss of appetite;
Nausea;
Nosebleed;
Stomach pain or upset;
Taste changes;
Trouble sleeping;
Vomiting;
Tiredness or weakness;
Weight loss.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended for following conditions:
Who are allergic to any ingredient in Afinitor;
who have severe liver problems;
Who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant;
Who are allergic to sirolimus or temsirolimus;
Who have diabetes or high blood sugar, high cholesterol, bone marrow problems.

Drug Interactions:
Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin);
Aprepitant, azole antifungals (eg, itraconazole, ketoconazole), calcium channel blockers (eg, diltiazem, verapamil), HIV protease inhibitors (eg, ritonavir), macrolide antibiotics (eg, clarithromycin, erythromycin);
Barbiturates (eg, phenobarbital), carbamazepine, dexamethasone, hydantoins (eg, phenytoin), rifabutin, rifampicin, rifampin, or St. John's wort.

This is a great compound for treating the symptoms of my asthma. It works very rapidly and almost immediately relieves the symptoms. Sometime it relieves them so quickly that I get a short term (less than 30 minutes) headache following its use. At night I can fall asleep immediately after use.
