Aluminum is widely used in indigestion remedies for its antacid effects. It is also used to make cooking utensils. There is concern that as aluminum is found in greater amounts in the brains of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease, it may be partly to blame for this condition. Interestingly, the homeopathic remedy is used to treat senile dementia. Sluggishness is the keynote running through Alumina. This is an excellent remedy for severe constipation in which the bowels are sluggish and even small, soft stools are difficult to pass. This is common in pregnant women and children. Alumina is also used for dizziness on closing the eyes, a sensation of cobwebs over the face, heaviness, a lack of coordination, and paralysis of the limbs, as in multiple sclerosis, and difficulty urinating due to sluggishness.
