Warnings
The generic name of this medication is thyroxine and brand names are Armour Thyroid and Bio-Throid.
The active ingredient of this medication is thyroxine. Inactive ingredients include calcium stearate, dextrose, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate and opadry white.
Mainly used in treating underactive thyroid or hypothyroidism.
Common Uses:
This medication is used in treating hypothyroidism.
Off Label Uses:
It is also used for treating or preventing certain goiters and as a diagnostic aid in diagnosing certain thyroid conditions.
Side Effects:
Heart palpitations;
Tachycardia;
Heart failure, chest pain, or a heart attack;
Discomfort in breathing;
An increased appetite along with weight loss;
Insomnia;
Emotional changes;
Hair loss;
Flushing;
Broken bones or other signs of weakened bones;
Menstrual problems or fertility problems;
Shakiness or muscle weakness;
Increased sweating;
Fever.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Untreated adrenal gland problems or untreated hyperthyroidism;
History of chest pain, heart attack, heart blood vessel problems, or other cardiovascular conditions;
History of diabetes, overactive thyroid, long-term underactive thyroid.
It is also not recommended in pregnant women; those planning on becoming pregnant; and nursing mothers.
Drug Interactions:
Anticoagulants like warfarin;
Calcium, cholestyramine, colestipol, estrogen, hormonal contraceptives (eg, birth control pills), or iron;
Digoxin, insulin, or oral hypoglycemic agents like glyburide.

Formula must have been changed. Had used successfully for years when made by Forest but now it makes me itch, my hair is falling out, eyebrows and eyelashes are gone. So tired and cold. Price has more than tripled and no benefit.
