The generic name of this medication is mupirocin and the brand name is Bactroban Nasal.

The active ingredient of this medication is mupirocin. The inactive ingredients are paraffin and a mixture of glycerin esters.

It is manufactured by Glaxo Smith Kline.

Mainly used to temporarily get rid of certain nasal bacteria as part of an infection control program.

Common Uses:

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Headache;
Stuffy nose;
Sore throat;
Bad taste in the mouth;
Burning/stinging of the nose or cough.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients.
It is also not recommended in pregnant women; women who are planning on becoming pregnant; and nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
Chloramphenicol and other nasal products.
