Common Uses:

This medication is used in treating infections caused by certain bacteria.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Abnormal taste;
Diarrhea;
Headache;
Indigestion;
Nausea;
Stomach discomfort;
Vomiting.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended for following conditions:
Who are allergic to any ingredient in Biaxin Filmtab or to any other macrolide (eg, erythromycin);
Who are taking cisapride, cyclosporine, dofetilide, eletriptan, an ergot alkaloid (eg, dihydroergotamine, ergotamine), an H1 antagonist (eg, astemizole, terfenadine);
Who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding;
Who have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances;
Who have diarrhea, a stomach infection, a blood disorder, severe kidney problems, or liver problems.

Drug Interactions:
Aldosterone blockers (eg, spironolactone), anticoagulants (eg, warfarin), benzodiazepines (eg, alprazolam), buspirone, carbamazepine, cilostazol, cisapride, colchicine, corticosteroids (eg, hydrocortisone), cyclosporine;

Dofetilide, macrolides and ketolides (eg, azithromycin, erythromycin), pimozide, QT-prolonging agents (eg, quinidine, sotalol, thioridazine), quinolones (eg, ciprofloxacin);

Rifampin.

19 Feb 2011	I had really severe bronchitis and I took Biaxin as a last result. I don't like antibiotics, but it eventually knocked out my cough. I did get more sniffle-y after taking it for a few days.
