Common Uses:

This medication is used to treat bronchospasm (wheezing, shortness of breath) associated with lung diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema.

Off Label Uses:

None noted thus far.

Side Effects:
An allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); or
Chest pain or irregular heartbeats.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended for following conditions:
Who are allergic to it;
Who have heart disease or high blood pressure;
Who have epilepsy or another seizure disorder;
Who an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism);
Who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant.

Drug Interactions:
A beta-blocker such as atenolol (Tenormin), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), propranolol (Inderal);

A tricyclic antidepressant such as amitriptyline (Elavil), doxepin (Sinequan), nortriptyline (Pamelor), amoxapine (Asendin);

A monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine;

Caffeine, diet pills, or decongestants.

Took this medication to stop my preterm labor; it was AWEFUL. ALthough it worked wonderful and stopped the contractions quicky, the side effects were horrible for me. I also suffer from Anxiety so that may have intensified the side effects.
