Common Uses:

This medication is used to treat anxiety disorders and and for short-term relief of the symptoms of anxiety, such as fear, tension, irritability, dizziness, pounding heartbeat, and other physical symptoms.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
feeling light-headed, fainting;
fast or uneven heart rate;
depressed mood, unusual thoughts or behavior; or
lack of balance or coordination.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended for following conditions:
Who have kidney disease;
Who have liver disease.

Drug Interactions:
medicines to treat psychiatric disorders, such as chlorpromazine (Thorazine), haloperidol (Haldol), mesoridazine (Serentil), pimozide (Orap), or thioridazine (Mellaril);
dexamethasone (Decadron, Hexadrol);
erythromycin (E-Mycin, E.E.S., Ery-Tab, Erythrocin);
itraconazole (Sporanox), ketoconazole (Nizoral);

02 Mar 2015	I have been taking Buspar (Burspirone) (5mg) for 6 weeks. I take 1-1/2 tablets (7mg) twice a day. I immediately noticed a warm feeling when I first started but after a month or so I didn't notice it as much. I have PTSD and anxiety has been a real problem for many years. After 2 weeks I still felt noticeable anxiety and felt like I was wasting my time. However, I read that many others had experienced the same feelings so I continued taking it as directed. It was around the one month mark that I noticed a decrease in my anxiety and that I was sleeping better. I have previously had a real problem staying asleep all night and many nights I would wake up and couldn't go back to sleep for 2-3 hours. It was extremely frustrating. Now I sleep through the night and if I wake up I can go right back to sleep. I am overjoyed. My doctor plans to call me today to have a phone conference. 01 Aug 2011	when i first started taking Buspar 2 years ago, it worked for me almost instantaneaously. i felt more in control, my crying spells subsided, etc. now, it seems to me that my stress level is raised due to being in school full time, and it just isnt working for me anymore. —Posted by Anonymous Respond Display Name: Email: (Required) Notify me of new comments Email me monthly survey results Sending... 30 May 2011	Pretty much ineffective. Any effectiveness may not have been noticed as i currently take 75mg daily of Nardil for depression and anxiety. Any benefits of Buspar have been very slight. However no negative side effects have been noted with this medication.
