Warnings
The generic name of this medication is venlafaxine and brand name is Effexor XR.
The active ingredients of this medication are venlaxifine hydrochloride and microcrystalline.
Effexor XR is manufactured by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
Mainly used in the treatment of depression, generalized or social anxiety disorder/ panic disorder.
Common Uses:
This medication is used in the treatment of depression, generalized or social anxiety disorder or panic disorder.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Abnormal dreams
Blurred vision
Changes in taste
Constipation
Decreased sexual desire or ability
Dizziness
Drowsiness
Dry mouth
Flushing
Headache
Increased sweating

Cautions / Warnings:
Not advisable in people who are allergic to any ingredient in Effexor XR Extended-Release Capsules.
Not advisable in people who are taking a fenfluramine derivative (eg, dexfenfluramine)
Not advisable during pregnancy, pre-pregnancy, or in nursing mothers.

Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin)
Diuretics (eg, furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide)
Azole antifungals (eg, ketoconazole)

I put on 17kg going from 70kg to 87kg since taking this medication. I have become a reckless spender who no longer plans and really cant give a damn about much at all. No longer the passionate, lively, creative person I was. Also sleep at least 10 hours a day and lost sex drive and no longer socialise. Have been asking the doctor to change my medication.

I found this drug moderately successful. I have not experienced tremendous relief from my depression, but it has definitely lifted me out of my most helpless state. It has given me the beginning push to allow myself to get my life back under my control. I experienced NO side effects. But this information is all from my personal experience - I am NOT a professional, reputable medical professional and this review should not be listened to above that of a doctor or specialist.
