Hydroxizine is the generic name and the various brand names under which medication is manufactured and marketed are Atarax; Hyzine; Rezine; Vistacon; Vistacot; Vistaject-50; Vistaril; and Vistazine.

The active ingredients of this medication are ephedrine hydrochloride and ephedrine sulfate.

The inactive ingredients of this medication are anhydrous lactose and carnauba wax.

This medication is used in the treatment of anxiety and tension where it functions as a sedative. In combination with other drugs it is administered for anesthetic purposes. It also controls nausea and vomiting.

Hydroxyzine is also used in the treatment of various skin conditions like hives and contact dermatitis.

Common Uses:

Uses include:
Treatment of anxiety and tension where it functions as a sedative;
Treatment of allergies and associated symptoms of sneezing and runny nose;
Treatment of allergic skin conditions like hives and contact dermatits.
Works as an anesthetic when combined with other drugs;
Controling nausea and vomiting;
