Prazosin hydrochloride is an antihypertensive medication and is a quinolone derivative. Prazosin hydrochloride is the generic name and active ingredient of this medication. It is manufactured and marketed under the brand name Minipress.

The inactive ingredients of prazosin hydrochloride are, magnesium stearate; sodium lauryl sulfate; starch; and sucrose.

It is primarily used in the treatment of hypertension and BPH or benign prostatic hypertrophy (enlargement of the prostate gland).

Common Uses:

Used in the treatment of:
Hypertension or high blood pressure;
Heart attacks;
Benign prostatic hypertrophy or BPH.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Dizziness;
Drowsiness;
Fatigue;
Headache;
Lack of energy;
Nausea;
Palpitations.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in:
People with allergic reactions to any of the ingredientes of this medication or any other medications;
People with hepatic and renal conditions;
Pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Avoid driving or operating machinary while on this medication since it causes drowsiness.

Drug Interactions:
Beta blockers like propranolol;
Dextroamphetamine;
Diuretics like hydrochlorothiazide;
Ibuprofen;
Other antihypertensive medications;
Verapamil.
