The generic name of this medication is lansoprazole and brand names are Prevacid, Prevacid SoluTab.

The active ingredients of this medication are lansoprazole and naproxen. Prevacid delayed-release tablets contain the following inactive ingredients: hydroxypropyl cellulose, low substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium carbonate, methacrylic acid copolymer, starch, talc, sugar sphere, sucrose, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, and titanium dioxide.

Prevacid is manufactured by TAP Pharmaceutical Products.

It is primarily used in the treatment and prevention of stomach and intestinal ulcers and erosive esophagitis.

Common Uses:

This medication is used to treat and prevent stomach and intestinal ulcers, erosive esophagitis (damage to the esophagus from stomach acid), and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Hives;
Difficulty breathing;
Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat;
Headache;
Nausea, stomach pain;
Constipation.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people that have:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Any kind of liver disease.

Not advisable in pregnant women and nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
Ampicillin (Omnipen, Principen);
Atazanavir (Reyataz);
Clopidogrel (Plavix);
Digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps);
Ketoconazole (Nizoral);
A blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin);
Iron (Feosol, Mol-Iron, Fergon, Femiron, others).

06 Sep 2012	thank you prevacid,i have used prylosec for 7 years,avoided cucumbers,tomatoes etc,.doc. said i have acid reflux,gynocologist said i have acidic stomach causing acid urine(a lot of burning).I tried prevacid when you ran the buy one get one free.Didnt seen to help much at first,i needed tums also,i used up my 3 month supply and realized i was cured. I eat everything i want ! I sometimes need a tums but only for 3 or 4 seconds and then i spit it out.I dont chew a whole one to avoid constipation since my acid is now reduced.I understand the difference between the 2 meds. now !!! 22 Mar 2012	I TRIED NEXIUM, PRILOSEC AND MANY OTHER MEDICINES FOR MY GERD. I HAD NO RELIEF. I WENT ON PREVACID 2 TIMES A DAY FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS AND MY SYMPTOMS WENT AWAY. WHEN I FEEL MY SYMPTOMS RETURNING, I TAKE A PILL IN THE MORNING FOR ABOUT A WEEK OR SO, AND MY SYMPTOMS SUBSIDE.
