The generic name of this medication is drospirenone/ethinyl estradiol and brand name is Yasmin.
Active ingredients of Yasmin include ethinylestradiol 30 micrograms and drospirenone 3 mg.
The inactive ingredients are lactose monohydrate NF, corn starch NF, modified starch NF.
Mainly used in preventing pregnancy.
Yasmin is made by Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals.

Common Uses:

This medication is used for contraceptive purposes.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Breast tenderness
Bleeding or spotting between menstrual periods
Nausea
Stomach cramps or bloating
Vomiting
Weight gain

Cautions / Warnings:

Not advisable in patients allergic to any ingredient in Yasmin.
Not advisable during pregnancy or in pre-pregnancy.
Not advisable in patients with a history of blood clotting problems, severe blood clots.
Not advisable in patients with kidney disease, adrenal disease, liver disease or liver tumors.

Drug Interactions:
Aldosterone blockers (eg eplerenone)
Acetaminophen, ascorbic acid (vitamin C) or atorvastatin
Azole antifungals (eg ketoconazole) or HIV protease inhibitors (eg ritonavir)
Aprepitant, barbiturates (eg phenobarbital)
Beta-blockers (eg propranolol), corticosteroids (eg prednisolone)
Anticoagulants (eg warfarin)
Clofibric acid
Lamotrigine
Morphine
Salicylic acid

never had any problems with yasmin, being taken off of it not by choice stating the lisinopril I take is a risk also with stroke because of the estrogen. being put on nora be instead.
