The generic name for this medication is aluminum/magnesium and brand name is Alamag.

Alamag is manufactured by Alamag H L Moore Drug Exchange National Pharmaceutical.

The active ingredient of this medication is aluminum hydroxide and inactive ingredients are acesulfame K. alginic acid, artificial flavor and calcium stearate.

It is mainly used in treating acid indigestion, heartburn and sour stomach.

Common Uses:

This medication is used in treating acid indigestion, heartburn and sour stomach.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Constipation
Diarrhea
Loss of appetite
Muscle weakness
Nausea
Slow reflexes
Vomiting

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended for patients with the following conditions:
If allergic to any ingredient in Alamag Chewable Tablets.
If taking citrate salts (found in some calcium supplements, antacids and laxatives).
During pregnancy pre-pregnancy, and nursing mothers.
If there is Alzheimer's disease, appendicitis, diarrhea, a stomach blockage, kidney problems or an ileostomy.

Drug Interactions:
Cation exchange resins (sodium polystyrene sulfonate) and citrate salts (found in some calcium supplements, antacids and laxatives.
Anticoagulants (warfarin), quinidine or sulfonylureas (glyburide).
Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors (enalapril), beta-blockers (propranolol), bisphosphonates (risedronate), cephalosporins (cephalexin), corticosteroids (hydrocortisone), cyclosporine, delavirdine, digoxin, imidazoles (eg, ketoconazole), mycophenolate, penicillamine, quinolones (ciprofloxacin), tetracyclines (doxycycline) or thyroid hormones (levothyroxine).
